Bogliasco, from Sant'Ilario
Access
From Nervi (Via Oberdan, in front of the Croce Verde) bus no. 516 goes up to S.Ilario, running every 30 minutes.
Introduction
The trail is well sheltered and the lesser-known section (after Sessarego) has recently been cleaned and resurfaced. Fine winter days are the best time for the trip.
.Description
From the bus terminus at S. Ilario (200 m), walk horizontally and to the east along the church square to take via della Scuola dell'Agricoltura; when it ends, from the entrance to the school, take the uphill creuse on the left (via Lastrego) and immediately afterwards, on the right, via L.Cremona. When you come to an old wash-house, take via Poggetto di Sopra, which climbs up through olive groves to the Musanega greenhouse (270 m). Here there is a wide view of the Gulf of Paradise and we head along via Serra di Musanego (eastwards). You continue along the coast on a scenic route, but partly disturbed by the nearby motorway, reaching Sessarego (245 m -1h). From there, one crosses the village to the 'Paradiso' trattoria, near a crossroads. One ignores the downhill road to the right and the stairway to the left (which follows a high variant). Instead, one opts for the lane that flanks the building with the restaurant on the left and continues between the strips. One notices blue arrows alternating with red ones, which help in this part of the path that is little frequented. One passes a small stream and a ruined house (on the left), while the motorway viaduct is getting closer and closer. In a moment, the path fords the Poggio stream, in this case dry, but often full of water and, when this happens, with some slight difficulty in crossing it... Now climb again until you reach the hamlet of Iso (50'). Afterwards, continue to Poggio and uphill on tarmac to the square in the hamlet of San Bernardo (250 m - 30'). Here you cross the FIE sign: the left branch goes towards S. Croce while the right branch descends, quickly, to Bogliasco. One chooses the easiest route and descends towards the sea... (35').
All in all: Good weather. Dif. E - 3h Tot . +150 m -350 m disl.
Approach
The route is well cleaned, with good restoration work on the Sessarego - Poggio section.
A thank you to those who intervened (Friends of Golfo Paradiso).
There are two points that are a little tricky:
the second is fixed with a lanyard while the first (perhaps new) is still to be secured even if at the moment it is a problem that is minimal, but could worsen in the short term... for these two aspects see the photos on the middle of page 3 of the pdf
