Mount Tregin
Access
You exit the A12 at Sestri Levante, where you turn left for Casarza Ligure. Once in the village, proceed as far as the junction for Bargone on the left. You will soon arrive in the village square, where you can park (or in the immediate vicinity).
Introduction
The red jaspers of the Tregin and the prehistoric lake, a circuit from Bargone...
The excursion, despite its proximity to the coast, passes through one of the most interesting and fascinating natural environments in the whole of Liguria, with the red rocks of the summit and the remains of an ancient lake (the area was frequented from the Middle Palaeolithic, that is to say, from about 100.000 years ago!), furthermore, the Tregin is a mountain of unquestionable personality with a beautiful view from the motorway too.
Description
From Bargone (295 m), we rise in altitude to the Lencisa pass (647 m - 1h), at a crossroads of paths. Here, you turn right and, in an even steeper manner, ascend the ridge with its characteristic red colour. In 35 minutes, the rocky summit (870 m) is conquered, with a cross and a statuette of the Madonna, and a vast panorama appears. Carefully following the symbols, you face a descent that is a little difficult (a few metres) and to be avoided in wet weather! You regain height, coming out onto a dirt track (30'). Keep to the right and at the next fork, if you want to visit the hut area (Belvedere Observatory), turn left (10'- tot. 2h15).
After a break, retrace your steps and turn left at the fork. Further on, you skirt the "Bargone Pond" 850 m. Continue with a few short ups and downs to the Bocco di Bargone pass (908 m - 1h). Here you choose another Fie path that descends to the right (the track is a little tiring due to the rather uneven terrain). You struggle until you find a wide track (1h) that you should follow to the right (until you find the tarmac. Continue downhill until the car (1h - tot. ret. 3h)
