Access

From the A12, exit at Recco, immediately turning left to climb to Uscio. Beyond this locality, you descend to Gattorna, turning first left and then right to climb to Neirone and Roccatagliata. The road then becomes narrower and, after Corsiglia, turns right (towards Bosallo, Ripe, Feia). It is possible to park immediately on the right (600 m) or to proceed a little further on asphalt until a clearing on the right or from the beginning of the dirt road on the left with an arrow for Faggio Rotondo (650 m).

Introduction

Corsiglia, a hamlet of the municipality of Neirone, is a preferable starting point, rather than the main locality, because it saves about 300 metres in altitude difference and a lot of walking... the tour requires about 650/700 metres of climbing, but the fatigue is reduced compared to usual since the first 250/300 metres are on a comfortable dirt road in the woods... From Neirone it is not possible to do the loop with the Fie signs, as the direct Corsiglia-Neirone stretch is interrupted; you can get round this by returning to the B&B and then taking the outward route.

Description

At the beginning, follow the signs for B&B Faggio Rotondo. Here you intercept the Fie path departing from Neirone. Now you must carefully follow the markings (fortunately very fresh, otherwise it is problematic) which, on a faint track, climbs past some gates and ruins. You come to a mule track with low walls and go left. The path is now more evident, leaving the vegetation and arriving at the Pietra Cavallina pass (1044 m). A diversion to the left for a few minutes leads to an unusual boulder about two metres high. Retracing one's steps, at the next fork in the path, one proceeds straight ahead along the ridge and sometimes into the beech forest. Having conquered the Coghesino peak (1234 m), where there is a small metal cross, you lose a few dozen metres to regain them, in no time at all, for the visible little chapel of Mount Caucasus (1250 m - tot and. 2h30) and the refuge below.
After the break, you return towards Barbagelata. We leave the main road (from the Stre Biurche pass, 1188 m), and turn left onto a still wide, but somewhat rutted descent. Afterwards, there is an obvious fork: following the red signs, opt for the branch to the left. Another 5' and you leave the dirt track to turn right (not very evident! Watch out for signs!). You find the track again, passing a renovated house. Continuing to descend, you can either follow the Fie figures or the dirt track back to the car (tot rit. 2h)
In summary. Dif. E - difference in altitude +650/700 m and 11.5/13 km (depending on the chosen parking area) for approx. 4h/4h30 tot. plus all the breaks to see the various sights. Convenience: sufficient overall. Best time: early autumn and spring. Time: very good. Tour interest: high
